If you are thinking about selling your Myrtle Beach home in the near future, there are plenty of small things you can do to boost its value. That’s no problem; there are plenty of simple weekend projects that can easily help to increase the value of your home at little to no cost.

To start, you should consider de-cluttering your home. In one of our previous blog posts, we talked about the importance of clearing the clutter when it comes to staging your home for the open house. The most it will cost you is a few hours of your time and it makes a world of a difference to potential buyers. They want to be able to envision themselves and their own families in this space and seeing a pile of toys or laundry around every corner is only going to distract them.

Next, remember that you can never go wrong with a fresh coat of paint. After years of nicks, dents and sunlight exposure, your walls could definitely use a bit of a face lift. Just be sure to avoid using any crazy, bold colors. You may absolutely love the color green, but others may not and you don’t want the color of the walls to be all they see. Stick to neutrals and you should be just fine!

While you’re certainly not going to build an addition onto the home just to sell it, who says you still can’t create extra space? People often underappreciate the extra breathing room that a basement or garage can provide. Show potential buyers that these spaces can be used asadditional living areas by sprucing them up a bit. Clean the floors to show just how big of a space you’re working with and make sure that there is adequate lighting and shelving.

Once you’ve done that, take it outside and work to boost your home’s curb appeal. Paint, power-wash the windows, clean the mailbox, replace the street numbers, etc. Also make an extra effort to ensure that your landscaping is clean with no overgrown or dead shrubbery. The exterior of your home is what welcomes potential buyers in, so you want to make sure that it entices a positive reaction.

There’s absolutely no reason why you should have to spend your life savings just to get your home the kind of attention that it deserves on the real estate market. Remember, a little TLC goes a long way!
