One of the great things about retiring in Myrtle Beach is the fact that your grandchildren will actually want to come visit you. However, if they happen to be at a young age still, it’s possible that they may become a bit bored of just sitting on the beach after a couple of days. Luckily, despite the fact that our gorgeous beaches are a big draw for many people, there are still plenty of other fun activities to enjoy with the kids that don’t involve sandcastles and seashells.
MagiQuest – Located at Broadway at the Beach, MagiQuest is the world’s largest interactive live-action role playing game. Grab your wands and venture through this exciting fantasy world alongside dragons, fairies, wizards and princesses. Your grandchildren will love walking around collecting treasure and moving from one level to the next.
Brookgreen Zoo – Who doesn’t love a great day at the zoo? The Brookgreen Zoo is the only zoo on the coast of the Carolinas that is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is home to baby otters, bald eagles and so many other beautiful animals.
SkyWheel – This is a must for the kids! Located right on the oceanfront boardwalk, not only is a ride on the SkyWheel really fun, but the view is indescribable. Plus because each gondola is enclosed with glass, the little ones won’t be afraid of the heights. Additionally, with climate-control, you won’t have to stress about being overheated in such close quarters.
WonderWorks – Also located at Broadway at the Beach and referred to as a “museum for the minds,” WonderWorks is home to over 100 hands-on exhibits. Your grandchildren will go nuts for the zip-lining area, laser-tag, 360 degree bikes and roller coaster simulators and so much more. Best grandparents ever? We think so.
To make a long story short, there is so much more than just surf and sand to enjoy here in Myrtle Beach! After a day of exploring, you may just find that you’re enjoying yourself just as much as the kids are!
